Rhine river channels and tributaries of the Rhine

The Rhine (exactly 211.8 km in length farther from the source to the mouth) is the tenth Italian river by length and size of the basin, but the sixth and length, and by extension of the basin from those which flow directly into sea. Born in Tuscany, Pistoia and when considered over the entire length is by far the most important waterway in the Emilia-Romagna, and the only major region that is not a tributary of the Po river basin is
total of 5,040 km ² (of which 2,540 of the mountain basin) - the data, supplied by the Rhine, and therefore official, is higher than those of 4626 or 4630 or 4690 can be found in the literature current geographic.
is the greater length, basin area and average water flow at the mouth from those that flow into the Adriatic south of the Po
The name Reno Celtic origin and means basically "runs", "flowing water" and the same derivation used to baptize the much larger (and namesake in Italian) German river.
Its catchment area, which grows in the province of Pistoia, Prato, Florence, Bologna (I covered almost the entire province, except small portions of the mountains, hills, and especially the Persicetano and Crevalcore that bestow the Panaro and therefore, the Po), Modena, Ferrara, Ravenna, is inhabited by nearly 2 million people and includes areas with a high concentration of industry (eg the Bologna metropolitan area) and highly developed and evolved from the agricultural point of view (eg the district of Lugo Massa Lombarda-for the production of fruit and jam); historically has always been an invaluable hinge between the North and South of Italy, and especially its valley, except for the initial stretch more mountainous (essentially inaccessible until the mid-nineteenth century), has always been an easy passage between the Po and the Arno Valley.

Build Something Cool In Your Backyard

Saturday, June 23, 2007, Francesca with her friend, we decided to do a bike ride to the nearby countryside of Castel Maggiore in the province of Bologna. From
Trebbo of Reno, we are on the Via Galliera, a street with heavy traffic along the banks of the river Rhine and a bit 'dangerous for those who want a leisurely jaunt on a bike.
Continuing north, after a few miles, often because of risky overtaking at high speed of cars passing through, we preferred to continue in the smaller streets that flank the main road in an irregular way.
reach the village of Grove, we made a stop to quench our thirst in the kiosk that handles Association the homonymous small pond fishing village.
Speaking with the friendly restaurateur, who along with another younger collaborator and taciturn, he gave us a warm welcome, we knew that to return to Trebbo, we could follow a track that lies beside the River.
I had already heard of this path, but I had not given much importance to it because of my previous walks, I realized that it was a track more suited to pedestrians and bicycles.
Intrigued by the enthusiasm of my party, I asked for an explanation and say that I felt that way was not so busy, because the grass was cut and why the path was not always maintained in good condition.
His speech went on, informing me that there was an old project that relate to this natural path along the river Rhine, which would start from Sasso Marconi and many municipalities across the plains of Bologna, would reach the city of Ferrara.
Recalling with concern as the car sped away fast Galliera a few inches from my shoulder and how much I love the peace and quiet of nature, I immediately had a vision in my mind.
A vision that attracted me to the magic that track along the Rhine and that with the passage of time, would have taken more and more consistency in me.

How did the project Vision Objectives

The vision that came to my mind in unexpected, was that of a living river. Of a river re-evaluated. Of a river that returns from the past, to reclaim his rightful place it deserves.
A river, which has long ago forgotten, reminds people of its existence and its value.
A living river, which does not want to be dirtied, who declined to be considered as a natural open sewer. A disgraced
river pollution, which wants to recover his dignity.
A waterway now lost from collective memory, that is longing to serve the people again that the dawn of time have enjoyed its vitality and richness.
A river that wants to go back to being a river.
And the vision has continued to project itself in the eyes of my mind as a film along the stages of its history, shows scene after scene, implications and unexpected twists.
Suddenly, what looked like a poor man begging river due respect, becomes the hero with a destiny to savior.
A river that transforms from victim to escape.
A river that humble be heeded, it becomes master.
A river that forgives the rapes that the human being committed and that gives us redemption.
And in this climate of reconciliation between man and nature, created a new awareness.
The recognition that human beings are nothing without him.
that without his precious sap, the man could not exist.
that without his cycle through the earth, nothing would grow.
that without him, without his sight, without the sound, sometimes low and melodious, sometimes strong and irrepressible, our souls wither.
And from this consciousness, slowly rises from the depths of his heart a clear emotion.
A feeling of gratitude.
A huge thanks for putting up our ignorance.
For having to wait to see there alone, that we were hurting our brother. And that this relation, is part of us. Part of everything that concerns us, unites us, leading us eventually to understand that what we do to others, we also do ourselves.
For better or for worse. I
pervasive awareness that life had given us the task to watch over him. To be his guardian, rather than its perpetrator and that we all dishonored, we have broken the sacred commitment to protect and preserve it from our own stupidity and live in harmony with him.
And this spiral of emotions, leads me to understand that reflection about myself now. This unheard
companion who does not speak my language, I was told by his mere presence who I am.
A sense of shame comes over me.
He was always here and now I only know of its existence.
of its beauty.
of its importance.
I realize that since I was born, he was always there.
In all these years I waited silently.
And now I find myself talking with him through the wonderful language of emotions.
Suddenly I feel privileged.
I want to shout to all my discovery. My enlightenment.
I want to stop the cars on the bridges that cross it and say, "Hey! Look down! It is the river Rhine! It's your brother! "
